My mother in law, after listening to my often endless chatter, encouraged me to blog about coffee. I am a lover of good coffee... again, thanks to my mother and father in law. I remember a time of often-mistaken-for-good coffee that Tim Horton's had to offer me. I think it was more like the double cream and double sugar I enjoyed so much. Well, after having quite the aversion to anything bitter during my second pregnancy (or was it my first)??? ...I became a coffee connoisseur. Actually, I'm nowhere near the expert drinkers my In-laws would be. As a matter of fact, I should be encouraging my mother-in-law to blog about coffee!!
Well, I do know a bit or two about Halifax coffee. I've drank from almost every coffee cafe in the city. Almost. I will only mention my favorite. Now, I admit I'm a bit biased. This particular cafe boasts an amazing play area while parents watch on, sipping their favorite coffee and enjoying very yummy sandwiches and the like. The play area is made up of a playhouse, a train set, a play kitchen, books, board games, and various other toys for the kids to spend enough time in for me to finish my coffee. In addition, the coffee they serve is the best coffee I've tasted and I'm almost positive it has nothing to do with how good I feel while being there. *wink* For any parent out there, this is the cafe of choice.
Even if you're not a coffee drinker, the tea they serve is plentiful. They serve only Organic Fair Trade coffee. The beans are roasted elsewhere (I'm on the hunt) and are rich and dark, just the way I like it at my In-laws. Nowhere have I found a more consistently good cup o' java. Until I get my wits about me as to how to add links to names I mention, I will have to do this the long way. Here is the cafe I love so much: http://www.beansproutcafe.com
ETA: I've since found an even BETTER coffee, although I do still enjoy the Bean Sprout Cafe turned Almond Cafe. This new-found love can be located on North Street. It is fair trade and organic - a sure must for me.
It is called Java Blend Roasters. It is owned by a small family who cares about their imprint on our beautiful planet... and their coffee is amazing!
