Hurray for S!!!!!

Stafall definitely is my favourite form of child entertainment, since not only the boy will play for hours (if needed only, or course! lol), but his sister too stays focused on it almost indefinitely!

And 10 000 hurrays for the reader! I love to hear about reached milestones!!! :D

Yeah, yeah, yeah! This is very exciting. Some kids just "get it" sooner. Laurent is just starting to understand reading at 7, although they've spent a fair amount of time at starfall. Now he finds it boring *smile*. Celine learned at 5 and Brienne (almost 6) is learning right along with Laurent. Funny I'm writing a post right now about reading... I'll get it published some day.

This is very exciting news! Thanks for sharing.

Well said. Without sounding

Well said. Without sounding trite - thanksgiving should be a state of the heart. (When I fall out of that place, I have to record daily thanksgivings in a notebook for that purpose, as a reminder to get back into a thankful attitude again.) The Thanksgiving holiday is a wonderful community focus of thanksgiving - my personal take is that thanksgiving (as an attitude) should be focused to someone. So, "thanks, God."
Celebrating Christ's birth. How did it ever get to what it is? How did three gifts (of value, to be sure, but the magi could probably afford them!) given to Jesus turn into two months of out-of-control spending? Now I have to ask the same God for wisdom to know how best to celebrate the birth of His Son.
In both holidays, as in life, you're right - it's about relationships. And there's lots of room for 'giving' there.

It is the case of American

It is the case of American Thanksgiving. In Canada, what we celebrate is more in line with the harvest celebrations that come from Europe. Even people from Quebec were celebrating for a long time, until "Action de Grace" was dismissed because it was a religious holiday AND people were now living in cities and didn't care as much about religon and the harvests... and believe me, they would not have celebrated the arrival of the Pilgrims in New England! ;)

The point of Thanksgiving is actually to celebrate the white Europeans coming to the United States. Read "The People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn and you'll see why Thanksgiving is actually the WORST of the holidays.

Sorry to hear about your

Sorry to hear about your painful day yesterday. (But I admit I had to grin visualizing some chocolate-happy little people.) Hope you're soon feeling better. Do I remember right that you've had sciatic troubles before? Maybe that area was getting stressed too often/too much/too soon? Our bodies are so wonderful but tricky to understand - how well do I know! From my own experience I am slowly learning that -unfortunately - there can be too much of a good thing, and that every commentary and program written about any physical fitness routine has to be adjusted and evaluated for me personally - I just can't follow the formula!! Aarggh! Take care of yourself, this too shall pass...

Yes! Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday too! It is all about making a huge meal and being Thankful for what you have and hanging out with friends and family without anywhere to go all day.

Sorry to hear about your

Sorry to hear about your day. But, yes a little bleach is definetly needed at times. I too had a moment the other day (which may make you feel better) when I needed to use the bleach (for the first time in a VERY long time). My story may gross you out a bit. Oh, yes, maggots in the food garbage bin on my counter are possible (did you guys have those bins in Burlington?). I only heard about 'the maggots' but have never seen them over the 2 years we had this bin. Well we must have not thrown out the garbage fast enough one day because I opened it up and there they were. The bin quickly made its way outside and the bleach came out. My WHOLE kitchen got a great scrub and my counter has never been cleaner. Only then did the nausea subside:) ...are you feeling better yet:)?

As to the Europeans, man we were never allowed to wear shoes in the house in Europe and I think cleanliness was BEFORE godliness (more Martha's than Mary's I would say:)

Well, I only really know one European. He doesn't have kids, and lives in a small space, and I don't think is a "neat freak" from what I've heard...but I have known him to mop his floor. Sorry to disappoint you! ;)

Ah well, we all have crummy days. Sometimes a little bleach is required.
